Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an account?
No — the timer, your settings, and your stats all live in your browser's local storage on your own device.
Is there background music?
No streamed or licensed audio — instead there's a soft ambient visual and a gentle chime when a session ends, so nothing here risks a copyright strike or requires a subscription to a music service.
What happens to my stats if I clear my browser data?
They're stored only in that browser's local storage, so clearing site data or switching devices resets your streak and history.
Will it notify me if I switch to another tab?
Yes, if you allow notifications when prompted — you'll get a desktop notification plus a chime when a session ends, even if the tab isn't focused.
Is my data safe? Could I ever lose my work?
Your work is saved as you go, and our database keeps a rolling restore point covering the last 6 hours, so a recent mistake can be undone to the minute. Every night we also back everything up to a separate, encrypted cloud storage provider, keeping every nightly copy for 35 days and one copy a month for a year. Because the backups live with a different provider than the database, an outage or problem at one never takes your work with it.
